Seven Deadly Sins

The Seven Deadly Sins outline the summarized seven actions that are not to be committed by people who are followers of Christianity and other related religions. The following advertisement displays one of the Seven Deadly Sins, lust, in order to persuade the viewer to eat at Subway. RSN Designs May 12, 2013 New York City Look at the photo and what do you see? The small picture idea is likely that Subway is attempting to persuade the viewer to eat at their restaurant after grabbing their attention from the advertisement. The idea is that a person seeing this would be astounded at the thought of "Sex" being displayed publicly in this manner, and subliminally would want to eat at Subway as a result. The intended audience for this advertisement is people who would be easily distracted by the obsceneness of the sign and find humor within it, and we can understand that this is meant for an older audience of people that fall into a category of popular culture. The culture...

Wing Young Huie & Margaret Atwood

Wing Young Huie's Photo This photo by Wing Young Huie is representative of a major problem not only within modern American society, but also throughout the world. At first glance and simple examination, it appears to be two African-American men with varying levels of intelligence. Both men are holding signs that have writing on them - one with words that read "People judge other people befour they get to know them" and the other with various scribbles. Behind the two men is a stone wall and a staircase. Taking a deeper look at the photograph, a few things are noticeably meaningful. The most obvious is the photographer, Huie's, subliminal message. The picture can be understood to be a representation of how society treats those who are different. The man on the left of the photograph who holds the sign with words is looking off into the distance to our right, past the man holding the sign with scribbles, who is staring straight into the lens of the camera. The assumpt...

My Name: Elena Paige Rehberg

My Name: Elena Paige Rehberg My name is unique. I am the only Elena Rehberg in the United States and one of the few in the world as well. My parents wanted my gender to be a surprise when I was born so if I was a boy, my name would've been Evan, and if I was a girl, Elena. My mom always liked the name Elena and my dad liked Paige, but my brother's name is Aaron and they decided that Elena and Aaron sounded better than Paige and Aaron. I'm not sure of my parent's reasoning behind the spelling of my name, but I assume they liked the uniqueness of it, as opposed to other spellings: "Alaina", "Elaina", "Elana", "Alana", "Alayna". Rehberg is also an uncommon last name. In German, which is where my family originated from, "Reh" means deer and "Berg" means mountain, so I guess my name is Elena Paige Deer Mountain. I think my whole name defines me as a person. My first name is fairly common, but also has a...
